Keeping your grow room clean is easy and has many benefits. For example, it helps to reduce chances of diseases, viruses and pests. It also gives you greater control over your plants environment. I have put together a list of tips to help keep your plants healthier, by keeping their environment clean. So, let’s get into the 5 grow room cleaning tips.
1. Use Stockings or Fine Mesh as an Intake Filter

This tip is a great when using a tent or enclosed grow area. Simply fit a piece of panty hose onto the intake ducting and tape it on. I put a piece on both sides of the intake ducting to reduce dust, debris and pests even more. This tip helps to keep the area clean for longer and reduces hair in your buds as well.
2. Always Clean or Wash Anything Going into Your Grow Area

This includes things like pots, humidifier, dehumidifier, light, etc. I always clean everything going into my tent to reduce chances of pests, viruses and diseases. I will usually use something like a cleaning wipes or The Honest Company multi-surface cleaner for a more gentle clean. Simply wash or wipe down all surfaces that will be exposed to the environment.
3. Make Sure to Deep Clean the Grow Room After Every Harvest

This resets your area for the next grow and ensures the best start for your plants. In my opinion, this is the most important grow room cleaning tips. All you need to do is wipe down all surfaces of your grow area (including the floor) with a cleaner. I use cleaning wipes because it’s easy and convenient. You can use a bleach-based cleaner or a good natural cleaner. Whichever you’re comfortable with. Make sure to wipe down all surfaces of your light, fans, humidifiers, dehumidifiers and hygrometers. This sterilizes the room so it is free from bacteria, viruses, and any diseases that may harm your plants.
4. Keep Dead, Decaying Leaves Out of the Grow Area

This helps to reduce risks of unwanted pests. You can do this by removing them from the floor when they fall off or by pruning your plants. Pruning can also help your plants focus their energy more effectively and therefore increase growth.
5. Keep a Regular Cleaning Schedule

This is easy and doesn’t need to be a deep clean everytime. I usually try to wipe down the tent once a month with the honest company multi- surface cleaner as it’s gentle. I also do a deep clean after every harvest before starting another grow.
